Substance Management Group

The substance management group is ideal for adults, 18-years and older, in the early to middle stages of recovery from an addiction to alcohol or illicit substances. Differing from support groups, this group occurs in a structured environment, integrating an individualized approach with the benefits of a supportive group, and is led by a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in substance abuse counseling. As a result, each group is directive and will emphasize diverse and necessary skills for maintaining a sober and healthy lifestyle. The group is constructed as an open group, with new members joining the group throughout treatment. Successful completion of the group includes attendance at an individual initial assessment and participation in weekly sessions, each lasting 90-minutes, over 16-weeks. Individuals who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of completion.

Therapeutic Goals Include:

• Obtaining and maintaining sobriety
• Identification and management of situational and emotional triggers
• Coping strategies
• Relapse prevention skills
