Co-Parenting for Never Married Parents
This group will help never-married parents become aware of his/her own inappropriate co-parenting behaviors and assist the parent in taking responsibility for changing that behavior. The parent will learn tools (“I” statements, defenses, communication skills, staying out of drama, negative effects of anger and rage in conflict, compromise and connection for building a parenting foundation, and healthy boundaries). The parent will learn a foundation for communication, compromise, connection and compassion as well as overall resources to become a better parent.
The therapeutic goal is to help parents who have never been married establish healthy communications and a foundation for c0-parenting. Never-married parents will learn to establish plans for changing his/her parenting behavior for the benefit of the child(ren) and reduce conflict.
This group is intended for parents during separation or paternity to help prevent the development of managing behaviors and enhance his/her understanding of the demands of moving forward as co-parents.
