Joan Parkinson, M.Ed., M.P.C.

Professional experience:

Ms. Parkinson earned two Masters Degrees from Ottawa University, one in Educational Counseling and her second Masters Degree in Professional Counseling specializing in Trauma, Abuse and Deprivation.  Ms. Parkinson also has a Post Graduate Teaching Degree from University of Phoenix and is certified by the Board of Education for counseling and teaching for K-12.  She has over 10 years of experience in counseling related experience, including residential treatment for teens, case management, hospital crisis counseling, Teen Drug Court, at risk assessments and referrals for schools, Play it Smart for underprivileged athletes in high school, teen addiction, and teaching and counseling in high school and college. She has spoken at over 100 schools and organizations for “notMYkid” on teen behavioral issues: depression, eating disorders, substance abuse, internet safety, bullying, and safe dating.  Ms. Parkinson also is involved in the founding and support of Teen Addiction Anonymous, created by teens for teens to save lives of any addicted teen.  She currently teaches Parent Information Program classes for parents going through divorce or separation to better understand the grief of their children.

Vickie Spitzer, Psy.D.

Professional experience:

Dr. Spitzer received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The American School of Professional Psychology – Argosy University.  She is currently working towards licensure within the state of Arizona.  She has approximately 10 years of experience in the field of psychology that includes residential treatment with dual diagnosis adults, high-risk adolescents, substance abuse counseling with adolescents, suicide assessments in juvenile facilities, competency to stand trial evaluations, individual, family, and couples therapy through community mental health services. She has also received clinical training in administering psychological assessments, treating individuals and families affected by depression, sexual addiction, anxiety, addiction, foster care placement, and adolescents diagnosed with serious mental illness.
